BREAKING NEWS
Gunmen linked to Boko Haram and ISWAP carried out a joint attack on a community in Adamawa State.
The attackers stormed the village in Madagali Local Government Area, shooting residents and burning houses.
At least 27 people were killed.
Among those killed was the village head, who is a cousin of Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri.
Residents said the attackers came on motorcycles and escaped before security forces arrived. Many villagers ran into nearby hills to save their lives.
The governor has condemned the attack and promised to strengthen security in the area.
This attack shows that insurgent violence is still a serious problem in parts of northeast Nigeria.
